Inspiration based cover albums

I’m compiling a list of albums where a band or artist records covers of songs from groups which inspired that band or artist. I have

Thank You - Duran Duran
The Spaghetti Incident - Guns ‘n’ Roses
Scattered Smothered & Covered - Hottie and the Blowfish

and I know there’s a fourth one I can’t think of right now.

I have rejected Tori Amos’s new album which is covers of songs by various groups, but makes no pretense that they inspired her. That one I file under “concept album.”

I’m also not looking for albums where many artist cover one band (Think “Common Threads: songs of the Eagles”). That’s a thread for another time.

I’m trying to figure out if Under The Covers by Dwight Yoakam fits the bill, but it looks like just a standard covers album.

What am I missing?

Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds - Kicking Against the Pricks
Johnny Cash - Now There Was a Song
Martin Plaza - Andy’s Chest (an album of Lou Reed covers)
Bettie Serveert - Plays Venus in Furs & Other Velvet Underground Songs
Blackeyed Susans - Dedicated To The Ones We Love

And just quiety, I don’t know if Pat Boone was actually influenced by most of the artists he covered - my guess is he had never even heard them before doing his record.

I’d imagine Coalesce’s There Is Nothing New Under The Sun (tribute to Led Zepplin) would fit the bill.

Rage Against The Machine - Renegades - covers various hip/hop, rock and folk songs the band liked.

There is a punk band called Me First and the Gimme Gimmes that do nothing but cover songs. They suprisingly have a few albums out.
