While reading over some of the posts in this thread, I began wondering what exactly inspires the name of certain pets.
Take my cat, Ryo. On the way home from the animal shelter (I prefer to call it Alcatraz for pets), my mother, youngest of my elder brothers, and I were sitting in the old van, pondering what name would be good for him. Due to the fact that Ryo is a tabby cat, my brother had it in his head to name him something akin to cheese or cheese curls. Cheddar, Chester, Cheetah, Chester the Cheetah, Cheesy Poof, Corn Curl, Monterey Jack, Colby, and so on. I did not find these names appealing for our new kitty. For some odd ball reason, I was stuck on the name Aiden. Dunno why, but he just seemed like an Aiden at the time. Mom stuck with the usuals: Tom Cat, Goldy, Fluffy, etc. Unsatisfied with all of the suggestions, a lightening bolt struck my mom’s thought bubble and she proceeded to state, “Hey, what about the name of that one cartoon character from that one anime show? Ryo or something…” Upon this statement, the kitty began to meow affectionately (ha, that’s a surprise!). Mom spun around, looked at him, dead in the eyes, and repeated, “Ryo?” He meowed again, louder this time, and confirmed that he would hence forth be known as Ryo.
Any such similar events happen between you and your pet(s)?
