…who would you rather see run for President?
I would vote for Ed Rendell in a heartbeat.
Successful Philadelphia Mayor, successful Pennsylvania Governor.
I certainly remember no downside to his years in public office.

He’s 80. Kind of a nonstarter in today’s political climate.
Kamala. /nitpick
Fixed.
Depends on the parameters of the question. If it means “who would you like to see as president?” it might be Gretchen Whitmer or Tammy Duckworth.
But if the question is, “who should run because they have the best chance of beating Trump at this point,” Harris is just fine and my answer to the OP’s question is is “no one else.”
Yes, she has baggage (what politician doesn’t?) but that’s nothing compared to the hassle that would be generated by trying to pick someone else besides Biden’s VP at this date. We don’t need those distractions, we just need a solid candidate who can put up a good fight against Trump without an undue amount of side controversies. That’s Harris, and I’m thrilled she’s running. I’ve already order my t-shirt and bumper sticker.
I’m so A-OK with Harris I can’t formulate an answer to this OP.
For so many reasons, at this moment in TIME, I am beginning to think it is fated to happen.
Yeah, I know.
I with you on this. ^^
“Say you want a revolution?..”
I smell a new aroma on the air today.
Bugs Bunny.
What’s the point of this thread? It’s more MPSIMS than P&E.
I agree. She is not my favorite politician but, right here, right now, she is the one.
And I’m fine with that. (She’s not bad at all…she’s pretty ok actually)
Right.
But honestly, other than say Kelly- who is one of my top choices for veep, I cant think of anyone.
Kamala’s against Project 2025. If Casey Anthony was the nom and ALSO against Project 2025…
I want (and hope to see after a successful 8 year run by Harris) a Gretchen Whitmer / Jared Polis ticket. And as I’ve said elsewhere, I don’t care which is which, they can flip a coin.
But I agree that an 80 year old is a bad idea right now, and it was already a minor miracle that the Democrats could consolidate with minimal public bickering around a candidate in 48 hours!!!
Harris may not be the best hypothetical candidate, but she is ideally positioned to run without a bunch of primary churn that just gives gives fodder and oppo to the GOP. As long as she surrounds herself with competent advisors, can learn to give a prepared speech that isn’t complete word salad, and presents a campaign that addresses the concerns of people who aren’t being well-served by this supposedly up-and-up economy, she should have a decent shot as winning. ( Please, please, please don’t fuck this up.)
But mostly I wanted to acknowledge Tammy Duckworth who, in a righteous world, should be the head and shoulders Democratic candidate; a grievously injured veteran of a war she didn’t agree with but fulfilled her obligation, continued to serve in the Illinois ANG, then the Illinois Department of Veterans’ Affairs, then the House and Senate, and has demonstrated that she’ll take no shit from racists or misogynists who underestimate her. She’s pretty much sidelined by DNC centrists who seem to think that she’s too many shades of unelectable even though you’d be hard pressed to find someone who has sacrificed more and still achieved greater things than the ‘leadership’ expected.
Gretchen Whitmer’s great, too, and my dream ticket would be both her and Duckworth in either order, even though we’d hear protests that America isn’t ready to elect one woman–much less two–to the executive. But honestly, anyone who isn’t an inept demagogue backstopped by a burgeoning proto-fascist like Vance would get my vote. Harris is fine as long as she can just accept and follow guidance instead of assuming that she should just keep doing what she did before in the hope that it will work this time.

Evan McMullin vs Bernie Sanders
She is one of my Senators, and I have a huge amount of respect and admiration for her. I agree, it seems like she should be bigger on the national level than she is.
Since this thread clearly invites us to fantasize about who we want to face off against Trump, I will say John Wick.
Squirrel Girl.
Ok. No one else gonna say our famous unmarried cat lady…I will: Tay-Tay for Prez
Not a natural-born citizen, unfortunately. Also fictional.
A couple of weeks ago I would have said Michelle Obama. But reality has set in and its clear that Harris is the obvious best all around choice.
