Instrumental comedy!

I love this YouTube video. The guy is named Mike Rayburn, and he does a lot of throwing together of different styles and such. (His version of Bruce Springsteen doing Green Eggs and Ham, for instance, is terrific.) I think what I like about this one is that once he gets going there are no lyrics at all; the fun is purely in the music.

Clever and funny, I love it!

I thought this would be a PDQ Bach thread…

I haven’t listened to his stuff in years!

If you liked that, then you might enjoy this. Not humorous, but very good.

I love PDQ Bach! Even now, I sometimes burst out with “Howdy, there, I’m Oedipus Tex! You may have heard of my brother Rex” for no reason apparent to me.

It’s been done better and funnier

Me too. It’s been over 20 years since I saw him live.

"Oh Little Town of Hackensack . . . "

Ridiculous drum fills in instrumental tracks crack me up for some reason. Here are two of my favorites:

http://assacre.com/mp3/demo/ASSACRE_-_04_-_i_have_fifteen_legs.mp3 (warning, there’s loads of ridiculous metal guitar in there too)

And this electronic drum fill from Ween in an otherwise acoustic song always makes me smile: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnX4CKjDfc8#t=1m20s

Claude Coleman does a nice job trying to reproduce it live, but some of the absurdity is lost with a real human at the sticks: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l0BU0B_HcNo#t=1m15s

Hee. He comes to Minneapolis frequently. I’ve seen him twice in the last, oh, five years or so. Simply outstanding.

My bro saw him at Carnegie Hall, lucky duck.

Look up her dress!
