insurance question

Hope this is the right place for it, as I’m in need of some advice!

I have a client who’s setting up a web site that does classified ad sales for hotel oweners. People that own hotels or motels and are looking to sell them can go to the site, fill out a form, and post an ad. People wanting to buy a hotel or motel can go, search for whatever criteria, and see what’s available. Seems pretty basic. He’s looking into insurance options and has asked if I can ask around for recommendations on this.

Any ideas on what sort of policy/coverage he’d need? I’m guessing some sort of non-liability that his company to be held harmless in case a property isn’t as represented, and that he’ll do his very best to keep everyone’s data safe sort of thing.

Heck, I’m sure by this point, you can see why I need to ask for help!

So – recommendations on the type of coverage? Anyone else doing something similar?

Thanks!

See http://www.acehosts.com/arti17.shtml about disclaimers.

I’d also check with an insurance company and perhaps a lawyer.

A commercial insurance broker is what you need. It’ll cost nothing to find out what’s involved. If you don’t know where to look for one, ask any business owner you know.

It’s hard to know what to tell you (says the former Commercial Insurance Broker), talk to a BROKER that deals with specialty lines companies. An Agent deals specifically with one company, but a Broker deals with many.

If you’re in Canada, ING Western Union would cover a risk like that. He’d need a CGL at the very least, along with property coverages.

thanks everyone! will pass the info along and see what we can find.
