I’m planning a couple of international flights. “Only” $1950 per person .
So that’s close to $4000 for us to fly with no kids.
But we may have to cancel at the last minute due to medical problems in the family.
Is there insurance to refund the tickets if we cancel on the day of flight, or ,say, one day before?
United Airlines offers that exact product every time I book online. If you have a legit reason for cancelling it will refund your $$. I’m sure almost all major airlines have something similar. Google “trip insurance”.
Watch out though. Some trip insurances have a maximum they pay out, and it might not be the full amount you paid for the tickets.
And they have different conditions under which a refund will be issued. You can’t just change your mind. The medical problems might have to be life-threatening, or a dependent who requires your care.
Lots of flavors. Read the fine print.
I have lost count of the miles I’ve flown, and I can only echo the above: Yes, but read the fine print.
On a sorta divergence, are those tickets fully refundable by any chance? If not, what is the diff in fare for such? It is often prohibitively expensive, but sometimes not. I am just speaking in ignorance of your exact situation.
On another tangent, if you have enough frequent flyer miles to get the tix, you could always get them that way, then only have to pay a fee for redepositing the miles if your plans changed.
Anyway, read the fine print.
