I’m in the DC metro area (Maryland suburb) and have been thinking of getting a salwar kahmeez outfit (that’s the pajama-like clothing outfit that Indian women from the Punjab or Northern India wear). What I’m asking is if anyone can recommend me somewhere that I might get one made to my measurements? I can’t sew worth a lick, believe me, so I’d have to get them made and I’m uncertain if they’d come ready-made in my size (do -not- go there, please. :p)
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance.
I buy mine from here:
but a caveat - they are very plain cotten muslin, light and comfortable. I replace the drawstrings on the salwar with elastic. The scarves thaat come with the s-k are huge and very nice. they run just a smidge small, so I would get the next size up as they do not seem to be preshrunk [and I also only cold wash hang dry them] Also the arms are sized for regular to short people…the 19.5 inch sleeves on me are just a touch longer than 3/4 sleeves, but I have long arms proportionally=)
Some of their 'formalwear" salwar-kameez sets can be custom made to your specific measurements.
prompt polite service, nice people=)
