Desi dopers (and anyone else who wants to chime in)--I need your advice!

My sister (we’re Jewish) is marrying into a Gujarati family and is having an Indian wedding.

I’ve been advised to get two nice salwar kameezes–one for the garba (dance party) the night before the wedding, and one for the day of the wedding itself.

I’m having trouble deciding which salwar kameezes to buy, and I’d love to have your suggestions on which ones to get. Here are the ones I’m considering:

I’m 41 years old and around a size 12 or 14, in case that info is relevant. The wedding is in Chicago, in the last week of November.

So–which salwar kameezes do you think I should get? I’m going to get them as dress material and have them stitched by a local Indian tailor.

You’re going to hate this: they’re all very pretty and any one or two would be great. Is there any kind of theme or color scheme to the ceremony?

Well, I’m avoiding anything with lots of red in it. Red is the traditional color that brides wear, and I assume that my sister will be decked out in it.

Other than that–no color restrictions or themes I should follow.

I like the first and third choices.

421285 has a lot of green in it which would be complementary to a red dress (if you can wear green–green makes me look like the walking dead).

435579 is really sharp–could you dance in it?

I like your first and last link.

I like the second and the last. If I had reason to (and enough money), I’d buy that second one in a heartbeat. It’s beautiful.

The fourth one is my favorite.

Figure out how to start a poll, and let the TMs decide.

I love the beige and black set. Seriously lovely. I also like:

If I were a bride, I would so rock on with this lovely number!

I love 3 and 5. 5 is my absolute favorite. The bottoms are beautiful.
