During one of my periodic bouts of random netsurfing I googled “Lyssa”, even though I already more or less knew its meaning.
People reading books of baby names might be well advised to double check with other sources before picking a name!

HA! I actually have a friend who uses this nickname.
While she resembles the latter source more often, I’m sure she’ll blow her top if I tell her about it. She’s got a quick temper.
Pardon me, gotta go compose an email…
Hah, that’s sweet. I have a cousin named Alyssa.
Try thesefor weird baby names.
If we can talk nicknames, my sister called her son “Kinsey” from the time he was a baby until he was five or six. She hadn’t heard of the famous sex researcher.
Heh. I put in my son’s name and got “did you mean…”
I guess it’s rare.
Nor, I suppose, the fictional detective Kinsey Millhone.
Hmmm…I know a Lyssa. She gets very mad when you say her name, because she pronounces it Lisa (Lee-suh) and everyone…EVERYONE…pronounces is Liss-uh. She’s forty-something…you think she would understand by now why people are confused about how to pronounce it.
Does she foam at the mouth?
