Well, I just got back from my vacation. While on vacation, I went with my girlfriend to visit the Palais Federal (Federal Palace, aka Houses of Parliament) in Bern, Switzerland. That’s where the Swiss Federal Congress meets, and the Federal Council (the seven people that share the executive power.)
It was after 5:00 PM, so it was already dark (remember we’re in winter) and cold and no one was around. On the side facing the river, on the steps of the building, a young man asked me if I was interested in any hashish. (My girlfriend thought he was asking me to buy sausage, aka “saucisse” in french.)
I was a little surprised, considering he was right in front of the swiss “white house”, so to speak.
Anyone else have any interesting experiences near their local government building?

Two women walked topless around the Capitol square in my state. They were protesting something, I’m not sure what. I couldn’t see much because there was such a crowd around them.
Also, for a while, there was a man who would come and hand out $10 bills to people.
Several years ago I went to Jamaica with a buddy. Jamaican customs is (or was) pretty laid back. I put mu bag on the bench and the customs agent put a chalk mark on it and a porter picked it up. I guess the customs guy thought my buddy looked funny or something, because he opened his bag and poked around a bit (same buddy got body searched when we got back to the States). Anyway, while this is going on the porter opens his shirt and flashes a baggie of pot at me right there on the customs inspection line. I wondered if he had some kind of reward deal going with the local authorities.
We had a client that on his honeymoon down in Jamaica bought X amount of weed. He was arrested and sentanced to something like 20 years in prison. His new bride was patient for awhile trying to work out his release, but after three years ( I think) filed for divorce. Last I heard, he’s still in the slammer.
