Apparently there’s been some warning of a protest against the Irish Consulate, which is located in this building. So the police are manning all of the entrances, checking workers’ security passes and putting all other visitors through the hoops.
Yikes. We had the same thing happen to us in Boston when I worked for the state of MA and Tim McVeigh bombed the Federal Building in Oklahoma City–we had to file out after being checked, meanwhile glancing nervously at the gigantic federal JFK building across the street.
Worked out OK, but it is weird. Wonder who would threaten the Irish in Australia.
