Apples and oranges. Or maybe I should say apples, and being torn apart by bearded rioters screaming “Allahu akbar”. :dubious:
You sure are saying a lot of random stuff so I thought I’d play along. :dubious:
Mighty white of you.
Just more excuses to spew racist bigotted idiocies to seek attention.
Of course the comparative statistics show his hysteric racist bigotted idiocy is nothing more than the disgusting attention seeking of a sad and miserable attention seeker
Ramira, stats aside: do you deny that in Morocco it would be extremely dangerous to hand out fliers with a Mohammed cartoon on them and some text about how he was either psychotic or just a con man? And that it would not be especially risky to do the same about Joseph Smith in Utah?
Andy, I always scoffed when people would say they “don’t see race”. But I just learned that maybe that really is a thing! I know you are, like me, a fan of “Counterpart” (we seem to share cultural tastes from what I’ve seen). Remember the guy who was first shown from “Management”, using the communication system in the briefcase? In a subsequent episode, Mira finds another older Management guy and tries to get him to tell her where his briefcase is.
I initially thought the second guy was a reappearance of the first, based on their both being older and having the same role—even though one is white and the other black. Weird, huh?
Christ, this is probably the most successful troll thread in the history of the internet.
Yes, “interesting podcast conversation” is just how you’d title a thread if you were out to troll people.
You’ve managed to stretch it out to 2000 posts of reactions to your “I’m not a racist, but…” racism. Asahi’s right, it’s a pretty good achievement.
Just popping in to remind you that sarcasm is not a substitute for an argument. A normal sounding title is in fact a valid trolling technique. Especially given that the actual thread is no longer about that title.]
Of course, I just think you’re a racist, not a troll. It would be fine if you were amenable to correcting your information about races and racism, but you aren’t. You just spin the thread to be about something else whenever you’d have to admit that you were wrong.
It’s why I have mostly left this thread, only popping back in now because it’s fun to see how far off topic the last post has gone this time. And I decided to correct a simple bad “argument” while I was here.
Since you have rebumped your idiotic Troll trhread
This would be in Morocco as risky as me going to your state of Alabama and standing up and burning an American flag and shouting about the racist bigot pig infidels in the middle of a crowd…
In the real world with tens millions of European tourists visits each year, indeed there are the rude uncultured stupid bigotted assholes - mostly the christian proslyetizers - who say stupid bigotted things. They get detained by the police for disturbing the peace and expelled from the country usually. Snce your “Racist and bigotted anectdotes search” is not already providing you with some examples for you to use, we can
But we can note your slimey dishonest “stats aside”, since the Stats show your whole discourse to be a stupid dishonest bigot play to try to play for provocation as one of your demarches spiraled down yet again to failure.
What a stupid bigotted racist asshole who has such a pathetic need for the attention and to try desperately to puff yourself up with pretensions to intelligence (amusingly self refuted claims).
Why the moderators permit your Bigot & Racist Blog Thread to continue…
Nevermind
While the post-racial BS is a form of benevolent racism, because differences do exist although not tied to your racial categories as claimed. This does not justify your racist claims of “race realism” which try to justify arbitrary, non-biological categorizations to justify power imbalances based on the same theories.
People who “Don’t see race” are universally in the “privileged” race, and as the institutionalized racism doesn’t impact them they can ignore the suffering of others. While a social construct “race” is very real, it is just a product of mythology with very real implications.
You are still suffering from the same damn problem, you are abusing the term “science” while ignoring what it is to justify your beliefs vs search for the truth. All “science” is is a set of tools to get past the limitations of our in-built biases, if you ignore that fact nothing you are doing is actual “science” but merely “pseudoscience”.
You are falling for the same error of logic that allows flat earthers to self justify their ignorance.
He really isn’t.
He’s just using a tried and tested methodology to push an agenda. If he keeps repeating the same mantra, keeps claiming the same “scientific evidence” supports him, if he just sticks to that line again and again and again, then he achieves his aims.
Because he’s not here to have an honest argument, or to debate. He’s just here to try to make certain comments acceptable discourse by repeating them ad nauseam. There’s no error in his logic, because his logic is just “repeat the same unacceptable bullshit often enough and it will become acceptable through tedious familiarity.”
The only real challenge is to do this while keeping just enough veneer of civility to stop a ban hammer from falling, and also to keep the thread rolling along without a mod locking it because it’s stuck in a loop. The latter is probably approaching anyway, but till then he’ll keep repeating his shite.
Wait, didn’t that goalpost start at you not wanting to VACATION in Morocco? Is handing out anti-religious flyers something you usually do on vacations?
Heck, it started at him being afraid to vacation in any majority-Muslim country:
Exact.
That is why he practices his Slimey Slacker Slide. He uses this thread to push his bigotries and also to get attention.
Of course, he was just doing his usual slimey slacker slide of sliding to another absurd bigotted statement to push and reinforce his agenda as Kumquat has said.
The idea that the Morocco is dangerous is so silly…
it is 100 percent certain that a bigotted loud mouth white racist asshole is 100 percent physically safer there acting like an asshole than the equivalent version of a brown Muslim person is in some American bible belt city burning a flag… and the objective statistics show that.
No, of course not. A trolling thread you’d title “Interesting podcast conversation between Sam Harris and Charles Murray (of ‘Bell Curve’ fame)”. You’d want to mention the names of the prominent cultural commentator, and the controversial, discredited academic. You might even throw in the title of Murray’s book, in case readers didn’t recognize his name, and you had to make sure that everyone knew you wanted to say controversial things about race and racism. Have to make certain all the doggies hear the whistle.
I’ve not read all 47 pages of this monstrosity, but I’ve skimmed. Sure reads like a troll thread to me.
Ya, pretty typical of a “race realist” who, despite 47 pages couldn’t tell you what the implications of Maliki or Hanafi madhhab are, or how it differs from Shafi’i or relates to the dreaded “Sharia Law”.
When someone is determined to hate a huge percentage of the world they will do so. While ignoring Jehovah’s Witnesses were recently detained ‘for extremism’ in Russia or that the 2016 Minneapolis shooting were pretty bad too.
Of course the inconvenient fact that people acting shitty seems to have little to do with their randomly assigned “race” is ignored too.
That said I also won’t spend my tourist dollars in countries like Russia or Saudi Arabia. But this is me refusing to fund a cultural construct and not based on fear or pure racism.
As an example Moroccan culture may have strong conformity on their key values. Where family is everything and Islam is the only religion worth thinking about. Everything is the result of the hands of God. But that isn’t much different than many parts of the Christian world.
I would have no issues giving Morocco my tourist dollars over Russia or Israel although I do try to consider what the general public’s opinions are and what is the result of those in power but that requires a lot more home work. The difference is blaming all Russians or Jews or claiming it is biological vs cultural or a specific government. I doubt the difference between anti-semitism and anti-right wing nationalist political party in the case of Israel will be accepted.
(preaching to the choir here, but the target is other readers and not the OP)
A much smarter take than those we’re seeing from others in the thread. I’m always utterly sincere about everything I post, whether it’s controversial subjects here or my take on various movies, TV shows, or singing styles in Cafe Society.
Now you’re looking as obtuse as anyone. Someone upthread (Dibble, maybe?) made this same accusation about me, that I stubbornly refuse to admit when I am proved wrong—but then had to shut up about that when I cited examples to show otherwise. Ask Kimstu if I never admit error: I have done so in response to her strong arguments at least twice, and probably more.
You should instead by all rights turn this spotlight on pretty much everyone else in the thread, who really does just stubbornly double down no matter what. I guess they just happened to come into the thread with perfectly correct facts and logic, so no need to retrench—izzat right? :dubious:
That would be risky for sure, although I think the result would more likely be a black eye than a severed head. [ETA: And make no mistake: I think Alabama and the rest of the Deep South is a terrible place full of horrendous unreconstructed bigots, which opinion has gotten people’s dander up in other threads BTW. But that’s only one small part of the country, that the rest of us know is an ignorant, repressive backwater.]
Sam Harris has posed a very incisive thought experiment: what about the musical “The Book of Mormon”, which pokes fun at the LDS religion and its founding? If you produced a similar musical called “The Q’uran”, would you be able to get any actors to publicly star in it? Would insurers even allow it to happen? How much security would be required? And I’m not even talking about putting this musical on in Riyadh or Casablanca, but on Broadway in New York. Even with the U.S. having only a tiny percentage of its population who are Muslims, this would just not fly.
Meanwhile, something I observed in the Twin Cities last weekend suggests to me that “rude” Muslims are not dealt with terribly harshly here. It was an extremely busy holiday weekend, and I had found possibly the last regular parking space in the restaurant parking lot. What did I see but a woman in full hijab come driving up, and not finding any other spaces, she just took a disabled space and jumped out of her car and briskly strolled into the restaurant with nary a limp. “Hmm, maybe she’s got a heart condition or something”, I wondered. But a closer inspection of her car found no handicapped plates and no tag hanging from her rearview mirror. Now, I am not saying this is some stereotypically Muslim thing to do. But she didn’t, as far as I could see, get torn apart (or even yelled at) by an angry mob, even though there were some other people who saw it and I did see some frowns (which you’d also see if an average white guy did the same thing). I have to wonder: what would happen if someone wearing an ostentatious cross (assuming that’s even allowed) did the same thing in a predominantly Muslim country?
And you think this is okay? I certainly don’t. And I don’t think it would happen in a Western nation. But then, I still think what the police are doing in those countries amounts to protection of those tourists from a potential mob.
So that’s the “rude uncultured stupid bigoted assholes”. What about gay people? How would it go over in these countries for a gay married couple to go around and do touristy things and act just the way they would if visiting, say, Berlin or London? :dubious:
We can…what? I’m not giving you shit for (I assume) getting distracted/interrupted and then losing track of the edit you were making. I have done the same thing many times. I was genuinely interested in where you were going with that. I have complained in the past that you shoot off one-liners with very little substance, but this post was a refreshing exception to that trend, even if it was (natch) still as hostile as ever.
I make no secret of my atheism and my general lack of use for religion, on vacation or not. I have a feeling I’d get in hot water in a place where they imprison and flog atheist bloggers, or assassinate them.
Right, because so many people are intimately familiar with a 25 year old book. Why wouldn’t I just put “race” and “intelligence” in the thread title, hm?
