Interesting Site Sponsor Advertisement of Couple for Adoption

Bear in mind, I’m not judging this advertiser, I just think they’re unusual.
I wonder how much this ad cost?
While I was reading the “Men make better moderators than women” thread with this URL: http://boards.straightdope.com/sdmb/showthread.php?t=336849

I saw an ad labelled “We’re praying for a child”.
I clicked on its link, which is http://www.frankandjudi.com/

I then saw a page with the following verbiage:

"Hi…we’re Frank and Judi. We’re interested in adopting a child, so we’ve created this web site so you could learn a little about us. "

Wow. That’s different.
Why would you run this ad?
Is it that hard to find a child to adopt?
I hope the whole situation involved works out to make everyone happy.
Interesting ad choice for that topic.

<blink-blink>

That is different!

My old boss and his wife did a private adoption a few years ago, I don’t think they “advertised” in the same way as these nice folks, but they got the word out that they wanted to adopt a baby.

I think a lot of folks think of adoption as going into a Victorian-Era-type Orphanage and selecting a spunky kid. Not so. It’s a beurocratized mess (at least here in Massachusetts), that’s expensive, time-consuming, and offers little guarantee that you’ll even be able to “keep” the child you’re bringing into your home. I guess the agency pushes the foster-partent thing, and if the adoptive parents work out, and the birth parents don’t come forward, clean up, or otherwise take the child back that it’s a permanent placement.

Ex-boss and his wife did the private adoption in Georgia a few years back, and are in the process of state-sponsered adoption here in MA now (and having a tough time of it - the first child they fostered was a very emotionally troubled 5-year-old that was much too disruptive for them to handle, and the state had to place him elsewhere (poor kid). SmithWife’s got a close friend who just went through the process, as well.

Wow, Frank and Judi seem like really nice people, seriously! I wish them the best of luck.
