Interface Changes that stink!

I noticed two recent changes with web sites/apps that are just bad ideas:

On my Disney Plus Roku app when you pause, it no longer shows the length of time the show you are watching is an at what point of time you are in. It just freezes the screen. Maybe there is a different way to do it but until recently, pausing dd the trick.

When you look at a YouTube channel they used to list all the uploads in chronological order. Now they spit out video uploads with saved live streams, so if you are looking for something you have to now if it was originally a stream to find it. Or if you just want to see what videos they have uploaded you have to check two places now. I am not sure who benefits from this change.

So join me and start yelling at clouds and complain about changes that seem to benefit no one.

Apropos of nothing, there’s a category of shows that actually benefit from not showing time remaining. In particular, anything which is a competition edited down to a fixed length. When you’re watching live sports, and there’s 2 minutes left on the clock, you don’t know if the game will go into overtime. When you’re watching an edited and packaged TV show about a real sporting event, and in the sporting even there’s 2 minutes left on the clock, and also there’s 2 minutes left in the show, then you know that the sporting event will not go into overtime.
