BWAH!!
I just saw this on another newsline.
So the French give us the Statue of Liberty, then expect to use it as a recreational area?
And this was so the idiot could bungee jump off the torch! What an idiot! How big did he think the platform of the torch was, anyway?
I saw this on CNN this morning. You mean this guy did this on purpose???
TA, the Statue is on an island in the middle of the harbor. There is no way he missed anything else. He could only land on the statue, the island, or the water. You can’t even go into the arm any more. Structurally unsafe.
Yeah, he was going to land on the grounds of the Statue of Liberty, and the stunt was meant to protest landmines. (This according to the New York Times.) Um, how does parasailing across the harbor make any meaningful statement about landmines? The picture of the torch draped in red silk was pretty good, though.
They interviewed a tourist who was disappointed that she wouldn’t get to see the Statue of Liberty because now it was closed…
You just saw a freakin’ guy hanging off the torch on a parasail!!! Sounds alot more interesting to me.
Actually, I think it would have been cool if he had succeeded.
