Internet Detective (Game)

Ok, this game works as follows:
I start out with a question. The answer to this question can be found on the internet somewhere. The first one to get it right, posts the next question. If things get stuck, the poster of the question can drop a hint or two. I am not very good at explaining, so let’s just get started:

What number can I see when I look out of my balcony window?

Dunno. But your website nearly qualifies as a weird Earl’s – at least for those of us who don’t speak German.

Hmmm missing link? maybe 404?

ops, forgot that that website is listed in my profile. Even german wouldn’t help much as everything is in swiss german.
Actually the first lead to follow is my email address.

A 55?
I got the map with your building on it, but I see no numbers.

Not bad Chavardz , little hint: my balcony faces south.

1833?

No, that’s not it either. Another small hint is that I can’t see that number all the time. Only about 4 times an hour.

8903

Or Route 10.

Nope, but you’re all pretty close. There is one additional step needed.
Hint: how do I get to university in central Zurich every morning? (public transport)

716

I was figuring a train.
Wild guess: the IC276.

6 Perhaps?

This is all I can narrow it down to, as I cannot continue much further due to a language barrier:
Zueritaxi: 271 11 11 or 222 22 22, taxi 2000: 444 44 44

A train is correct. But it has a different number than IC 276 or 6. It is a single figure though.

ParentalAdvisory, I only take a taxi when I am coming home from drinking in the city :D. Would be rather expensive if I took a taxi every day (You can’t imagine what they cost here in Zurich, like 27$ for a 15 min ride)

The language barrier is a bifg problem for me too - thats why I took the tram route (it seemed a bit easier to figure out).

Train eh? well here goes…

I suppose it wouldn’t be good form to cheat and keep posting single numbers at random (like 8?)…
No, I thought not ::wanders off looking for a dictionary::

You actually do not need to translate anything. The necessary pages are all available in english. If you know where I live and with the hint that I take the train to school, you can find out which number I see.
'nother hint:
www.sbb.ch

Do you, from Bahnhofstrasse/HB, take tram number 7 towards Stettbach to “Milchbuck”?
