It’s certainly the Americanest of American holidays. We have BBQ, strippers, random shootings, and everybody gets an unpaid day off from work which has to be made up on the weekend. In the old days we’d hang a random person for an imaginary crime, but that’s gone out of favor in recent years.
Knight Rupert’s Visiting Day.
I predict people on the internet will not follow a clear and basic instruction.
(bolding mine)
Too easy?
So far only Shodan didn’t follow instructions. And maybe he was just thinking of Ann Arbor Day.
My turn. I really am psychic to the extreme.
- Add the digits of your age together (e.g., 4+9=13 if you are 49).
- Subtract that from your age (e.g., 49–13).
3… Add the individual digits of the resulting number together. - Add 5 to the result of step #3.
- Think of a holiday that always occurs on that day of the month
Did you think of Valentine’s Day?
Pentecost.
Nope. I got Winnie the Pooh Day.
I didn’t want to name names …
Martin Luther King Day.
Independence Day for the OP, and Bastille Day for Shagnasty’s. Though I suppose a young child would end up with Cinco de Mayo.
I admit to Thanksgiving. Then I thought of some other big holidays, none of which have an N. So then I figured, “I’ll bet The Controvert is fishing for Thanksgiving” and changed it to Rosh Hashanah. haHA I’m so clever! So the second option was New Year, so I won! Oh wait. DAMN!
So Ok, The Controvert, you’ve read my mind even when I was changing up the language. Still…must have been a little disconcerting for you to have been in there, eh?
First one to say Veteran’s Day?
Went with:
Halloween
SpriNg Bank Holiday
August BaNk Holiday
Too easy if one is British
Samhain here, too. Sorry.
Remembrance Day (and I see I am not the only one that thought of that).
Not a single person has gotten it right so far. That doesn’t sound good but there is an opposite confirmation of ESP. It can be confirmed when a person gets something right much less often than is statistically predicted. I think it is safe to say that The Controvert has this ability and that is no less remarkable, although less useful in the real world, than being able to predict the responses with any accuracy. I think we are looking at a true gift here. It is time to get James Randi in here for the $1,000,000 challenge.
If he can predict 1,000 rolls of the dice and get none of them right, I think we have a winner.
My first thought was Rosh Hashanah.
This is quite amazing. Valentine’s day and Halloween were the first two that popped into my head right away.
And I’m the second to say Veteran’s Day
