My dad’s been complaing about this for a while now, so I finally got over to the house to check it out, sure enough it’s gone. Wheather you get to Internet Options from IE6 or the control panel (XP BTW), the General Tab is just not there. I attempted to re-install IE but I’m not sure if it actually did it since I couldn’t uninstall it to begin with. Anyways…anyone got any ideas. If it makes a difference the computer is filled with scumware. I had to run spybot twice and adaware to get most of the garbage off and I’m sure there’s still some left if that makes a difference.
In IE6, all the tabs in Internet Options can be toggled on and off in the registry. Not sure how yours got toggled off, but if you go to the Fresh Devices website they have a good tool for customizing Internet Explorer settings, called Fresh UI that allows you to toggle the general tab back on. From the Fresh UI control panel, select Internet Explorer/IE Option Tabs/, double-click on Show General Tab, and make sure the the box for Show General Tab is checked.
All the Fresh Devices tools are freeware, with no spyware attached. Good stuff.
