I should know this. In fact I think I do, but I haven’t set up many sites.
…need to be sure, before I advise my cousin.
A little background. A previous boyfriend of my cousin set up Linux on her computer. She doesn’t want it and wants to go back to XP.
He’s having problems with this for some reason. Should just do a clean install. Also she can no longer get to her msn email.
This guy said her NEW email address is herfistname@herlastname.com.
? eh ? he set up a web site on her last name? I browsed to www.herlastname.com, and get this –
The link to cgi-bin is forbidden.
Looks to me that he did set up a domain under her last name, but it’s not on her machine. Bad bad news. They are still corgial, but he’s having a hard time letting go.
I post this question because I’ve never seen the response above (I use apache at work, so I do know a bit about that). And, my cousin is a bit concerned that he’s going to be able to read every email she sends and gets.
Frankly, the fellow may just be trying to be nice and set up her own account on one of his servers. But um no. That’s just a bit creepy. I will probably end up doing a clean install of XP on her machine (she lives 100 miles away it’s not something I can just pop over and do).
So, to sum up. Is that error above coming from a server that has her last name registered as a domain?
Thanks
