I have noticed the inability of my computer to play downloaded video files lately when they are .wmv format. The video will show a big chunky green blur and shadows. The audio is fine but the video is unwatchable. I have the latest windows media player and codecs, does anyone know whats wrong and what I can do about this?
Oh, sorry.
It is very possible there really is nothing wrong with the downloading process and your software. It is entirely possible the downloaded file will not work because Microsoft is expanding its use of DRM
Most likely the file is corrupted. It may also be that some application has installed its codecs as the default decompressor for the data in the WMV file. I would first try downloading another copy of the video from another source if possible. If that doesn’t work, try uninstalling any codec packs or codecs that you have installed, and see if the file plays then.
