Interstate Highways Follow-up Polls?

Which “Main” US Interstate Highways have you travelled? has had 129 voters participate in a poll as of this post.

There have been objections that the list in that poll is inadequate or misleading.

The source Wikipedia page (List of Interstate Highways) has 76 Interstates listed, of which the 17 ending in 0 or 5 were deemed “Main” roads.

The issue to resolve in this thread is whether to poll for the missing 59 roads or not.

The poll that will be up as soon as I can do it is for helping to decide if a follow-up (or more) is necessary for completeness’ sake.

Your posts will help decide that as well.

(Emphasis is mine) As I understand the article, those 17 roads are called “Primary Interstate Highways”.
IMO, if you want to protect the intent of the original poll, ask a Mod to edit the thread’s title to: On which of the USA’s Coast-to-Coast Primary Interstate Highways have you traveled?. That’s a bit wordy, so trim it if you like.
Then ask the Mod to edit the Poll’s title to: Which Coast-to-Coast Primary IHs have you traveled on?

Editing the titles would leave the original poll as it is and then you could create a second poll inquiring about Dopers’ travels on the non-coast-to-coast USA IHs.

I’m detecting a severe lack of interest in this issue.

It would appear that whoever said…

…might want to do a 59 entry poll for everything not covered in the original.

Problem is that everyone thinks that their nearest interstate is the most important of them all. If you do a poll of all the 2 digit interstates, someone will complain that some 3 digit one is better/busier/etc. I think leaving the original poll as is is just fine. the 0/5 interstates tend to be longer and more important because thats how the numbering system worked.

Thanks! :blushing smilie: But my intent was to suggest a fix that would maintain the integrity and intent of the original poll. I’m not fool…ooops! meant to say, “experienced” enough to create a poll. (Okay, so I’m chicken.)

All kidding aside, when I first saw your poll, I interpreted it to mean, “How many of those ‘Principal Interstate Highways’ that go border-to-border (the IH _0s and the IH _5s) have you driven on?” I wouldn’t be interested in a poll about the other PIHs because there are just too many of them for a poll to be meaningful (just IMO).

By no means. As far as I’m concerned, it’s a dead issue. Thanks for your input and for clarifying that the “Let me fix it” vote was yours. No harm done.
