Bull cookies. My third post here was a question. I got plenty of response, and some of those responding had quite a number of posts under their belt. I’m far from the only one.

I’ll concede that there’s a matter of degree, though. If you barge in on someone’s conversation with a non sequitur, you do get mixed reactions. Just like IRL. If you walk into a conversation at a party and start going on about other stuff, people would react similarly. Does that mean people in general are pretentious?
That probably has more to do with the fact that “regulars” here have picked up on the posting styles of other “regulars” and so have an easier time figuring out when someone is being ironic or trying to be funny or whatever. Keep in mind that some of those people have met each other in real life and have a lot more context to go on. There do seem to be a lot of posters, though, who just don’t seem to “get it” about the Pit. They post there and then are surprised at the responses they get (like anything in the Pit should be surprising).
Of course, IVAR posted some pretty raw stuff in the Fexual Acts thread - his first posts - and he got a pretty warm welcome, so it’s not a rule that you get hammered as a non-PC newbie.
Depends on how badly the horse was flogged and how recently. Just like any conversation in any group IRL. If you’re new and haven’t been lurking for a while, you’re bound to stumble onto those things. You could either take the time to search for previous topics, lurk longer before posting, or just shrug it off.
