Hello everyone,
I’m just making some lyrics and I’m not sure if “Into my skin” is acceptable or not. Do I need to use necessarily “Under my skin” ?
By the way I’m new, so I’m not sure if this is the correct forum
Thank you!

It depends on what you are trying to convey. Under your skin and Into your skin are different ideas.
Yep, right forum. Welcome to the club. Isn’t anything acceptable in a song?
Thank you for your answers and comments!
Well basically I’m not trying to be very direct with the meaning, it was just the first think that I thought
…I’ve been trying to find peace with the devil within
I scratch into my skin just to feel again
All sensations of life seem so aimless…"
That’s the kinda context of the phrase
It seems like you should leave out the preposition entirely.
“I scratch my skin…”
If “pompatus of love” is a lyric, then you can use anything you damn well please.
Came to say this. It doesn’t even have to make sense. As long as the words sound good phonetically and they mesh well with the rhythm; you’re golden.
I like “into my skin” in these lyrics.
Welcome to The Dope!
Heads-up: whether you mean to or not, somebody is going to say that there is an IV-drug user subtext to your lyric.
(Even The Beatles had to deal with the “Paul’s Dead” meme. :dubious: )
“The first think that I thought” is a great lyric.
If your GF is a zombie, she might be into your skin.
Thank you so much everyone for your replies!
I think I just found the perfect place to clarify my lyrics doubts!
IME some of the best lyrics are also the most enigmatic.
