Intragal/Intragel Word (?) Origin

I’ve checked several dictionaries and I can’t find the word intragal or intragel. I’ve heard it a lot over the past several years, such as, “He was an intragal part of this team.” Where did this word come from? Are people just making a mistake and actually mean to use some other word?

Look up “integral”.

So people really mean integral when they say intragal. If you do a search for “intragal part” in any search engine, you’ll find lots of instances. I guess my main question is, why are people saying “intragal” when they mean “integral,” and where did this begin? Who was the first person to start mispronouncing the word “integral” as “intragal” and why did this catch on so well?

I have no idea where you’re hearing ‘intragal.’ The proper pronounciation is now and has always been integral. I can only suppose that some slurring of speech is responsible. However, when I search google, it suggests integral as a corrected spelling of intragal.

My faith in the educational systems of America was already gone, but if it wasn’t, hoo-boy… this would tear it. What do they teach in the schools nowadays, anyway?

People say intragal for the same reasons they hold firm to the tenants of their philosophies. The correct spelling just doesn’t jive with them. Any old incorrect spelling that comes down the pipe will take its place.

Perhaps I should try a different tact: People hear expressions and repeat them without knowing the history, the raisin detra, of the expressions. One of the french benefits of a more well rounded education would be clearer communication, but some say that better schools would just be casting pearls before slime.

Oh, the eye-ronny.

I sink we are thinking to an all time low. People here a word and do not know haw to right it and when someone corrects them they say it is neither hear nor their. Apalling.

This thread is over, for all intensive purposes.

Thanks, Fear, I forgot that one.

I’m not comftorble talking about this. Can we discuss it in the liberry next Febuary?
