Per this 2009 Straight Dope question re *how *it was done I was wondering if there are any modern examples of men who have done this? I can’t find any contemporary examples of beards styled this way in google searchs. Do any exist?
I know some pious Jews have side ringlets but I am talking about far more extensive curl styling.
Thats a good question. I can’t think of having ever seen anyone sporting the babylonian notable-about-town Sargon. Other than in Stones Alexander movie.
I think the world of fashion is ready for a Sargon revival. A kind of us civil war General manliness tempered with a metrosexual delicacy.

I always just assumed it was a stylistic art choice depicting curly/kinky beards. I read the other thread but I haven’t seen any confirmation that it isn’t.
So were these beaded beards of just curly beards? Surely mummies or other sarcophagi would tell us what’s the truth is.
