We live in an amazing time to have eclectic tastes in music. Most anything is streamable and easily accessible to simply sample in a way that was not possible even 10 years ago. Truly it is a golden age! But, the mixtape has sort of died. I want to bring it back in this thread.
In this thread I would like you to pick a favorite artist or genre and make an introduction mixtape. There are rules though. You can’t just dump 5 albums of material into a thread and call it a mixtape. You are limited to 30 tracks or 90 minutes of music, whichever comes first. No one is listening to more than 90 minutes of music they have no experience with. There is a 30 track limit in case someone is super into Hardcore micro punk rock where each song is only 30 seconds long. 15 minutes of that is plenty.
If you are into classical you are exempt from the 90 minutes rule, but you only get 10 pieces so pick wisely.
Ideally the mixtape should have some flow to it and sound best if played in your selected order. But follow your bliss. You don’t need to link to a streaming service or YouTube copy of the track, but if you do it will probably make more people actually check it out.
I think this will be fun. Hopefully we will all hear some music we don’t know. I would love to see an “intro to Prog rock” or “intro to death metal”
I’ll start with an intro to Kendrick Lamar that I already made and which gave me the inspiration for this thread.
It’s too long at the moment but I will cut it down to make it fit the rules.
Right now its:
