Introduction

Hi everyone. I found this message board by Googling “kurt vonnegut discussion board” as I wanted to chat with people I might have something in common with. You seem like a nice crowd and I hope you don’t mind my joining you.

I’m procrastinating now. I’m a student, working, and have kids but because of that I work a lot at night and when my brain needs a rest I need to chat a bit. But I have nobody to chat to and I hate spamming facebook as then everyone I know in real life knows that I have no life.

So, hello. I like Kurt Vonnegut though I haven’t read anything close to all of his work. I like Voltaire. I like chatting with strangers on the Internet. A friend and I were recently mulling over the fact that we have been addicted to Internet message boards since before most of the millennial generation were born. :smack:

Hello, and welcome! I haven’t read Vonnegut in a while, but I recall entire school breaks when I did nothing but hog all the Vonnegut in the library and reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaad!!! And yes, message boards are great; I think we have enough world-wide travellers here to find chatting opportunites at any time of day.

Now, I have to ask…are you PROBABLY procrastinating? Or a ProBaby at it? :stuck_out_tongue:

Heh. I am a ProBaby. Right now I’m working on a group project and waiting for the other person in my group. Very irritating. But she’s working on it, at least.

Oh, ugh. Just saw typo. Multitasking strikes again. Well, I guess I’m pro-baby as well. I have two kids after all. Though I try to keep them away from people who are anti-baby, out of consideration.

Hi and welcome.

Welcome! This place is a haven for procrastinating pre-Millenial internet junkies

Hello and welcome. This is indeed a great board full of smart and interesting people.

Someone will be along with cookies pretty soon.

And, since I’m here, stupid and boring people as well.

And I brought the cookies. Here, try one of… wait. Where’d they go?! Damn dog… just a minute.

brb

::brushing crumbs from chin:: Yeah, **Lancia’s **dog, bad puppy!

Oh wow, thanks for the cookies. It’s the thought that counts. Especially online.

Twickster, thanks for the tip. I will contact her.

I hope you brought your own lube for your initiation. The squid has been quite dry lately.

Welcome. I was a big fan of Vonnegut in my misspent youth, though I didn’t keep up with his later novels.

Well, couldn’t find the cookies. The dog looks innocent, but maybe I’m mistaking stupidity for integrity. Anyway, here’s a bag of gummi bears I found in the sofa. Kids must have left them there last year when we had that birthday party for grandma. Enjoy!

ProbabyProcrastinating, I never got the squid OR the goat treatment when I joined… it would appear you’re already engendering the respect of the board’s denizens.

:sulks away in envy:

It most certainly is.

Oh, that’s nice - just chuck a solid, linty lump of gummi bears at her, eh? Sorry for the “hospitality,” Procrastinating. (I love Vonnegut, too. I haven’t read a book of his in a while, though.)

It’s the thought that counts!

Right?

Pfft. You signed up in June. They were on vacation.

Hello ProbabyProcrastinating. Be welcome. Enjoy your stay!

Lube or dressing? I love seafood.

Welcome, welcome! Would you like some ice cream? I just made it; it hasn’t escaped yet.

Same difference, right?

That’s what they told me when I got here anyway.
