In the case of the signal crayfish (currently invading UK rivers) - trapping them targets the adults, but adult crayfish are a significant predator of their own young*, so depleting the adult population creates a population explosion the next generation.

*Animals habitually eating their own young sounds like it should be a terrible evolutionary strategy (and therefore selected against), but this is not necessarily the case - lay a million eggs that hatch out into active offspring, then use them as errand-boys to voraciously collect and concentrate resources. As long as you don’t eat them all, it makes perfect sense…

Well I think normal shrimp have creepy looking heads anyway, so the fact that they just look larger than shrimp isn’t a selling point. Their weird features have been magnified. shudder.
