Ipad (mini) issue, help appreciated!

Firstly, this is not the retina display model, but the one prior. Santa brought it last year!

Secondly, I’m not very tech savvy, please to keep in mind!

So I’m in SE Asia on holiday, and sending photos to my friends back home. (Because it’s a new world, don’t ya know!) here’s how it goes:

Take photo, select photo, share to mail, add address, subject and commentary, then hit send. At which point my device prompts me to choose, from a menu that magically appears, an appropriate image size, which I do, (medium so it’s not too large for friends email!), and zip it goes.

Suddenly, and for no reason I can determine, it has stopped prompting me. Instead it just goes zip and gone. Only to bounce back a few minutes later, as it’s too big for most email clients.

I cannot imagine what I may have turned on or off to make this happen. Not being tech savvy, I’m not one for making adjustments or switching things just to see what’s what, as you can imagine.

I spent a fair bit of time yesterday trying to surf up some answers, but was unsuccessful.

It’s not the end of the world, of course, I can still send photos using hubby’s, but I’m dying to know what the hell I did! I would love to regain this power and not have to use hubby’s phone. Which I’m sure is just confusing my also not tech savvy friends!

Any and all advice greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for your time.

in ios 7, you have to click on the attachment (an image size text) and it’ll let you resize the attached image.

I was doing it all in ios7, with the prompt, and then without, as well.

What does ‘click on the attachment, image size text’, mean? I don’t see any thing like that in my mail program (apple). Can you be more specific, I’m not seeing what you mean?

it on the same row as the “bcc and from” line. it looks like “image: 256mb”

I spoke too soon, I did kind of understand what you were saying, after all. Did a little futzing around and I think I got it.

Part of my problem, I think, in trying to figure this, is I kept using a photo that had already been sized by hubby’s phone, so no image size info was evident.

But your work around does work, using ‘insert photo or video’ instead of share from photos, puts an image size icon on the bcc line that then allows me to scale the photo size!

Thanks so much for the lesson, I greatly appreciate it!

May heaven’s finest blessings shower down upon you, for your kindness to moi!

share from photos is the same, so long as you use a big enough picture.

Yeah, it was doing same when sharing from photos, then it just stopped. No Idea why. And when I’d send, it would bounce back as photo was to large for friends email client.

But now I have this awesome work around, so I don’t really care why it stopped working, when sharing from photos!
