This just started happening this evening. Cellular data is turned on, WiFi is turned on, any app that requires connection to the internet for anything will not connect.
No Location Services, no Maps, no IMDB, no Weather App, no Safari and hence no SDMB. If I turn the iphone off, then back on, I can connect for 30 secs to a minute or so. Then all connectivity fails. We have another iphone and an ipad mini that connect flawlessly. Those are my SO’s.
Been going through Apple’s website, not found anything yet. Don’t have much hope for it though. Will probably go to local Apple store and check there but don’t have much hope for that either. Has anyone had this happen to their iphone (or other smartphone)? Kind of baffled at the moment.
One more time, just to get my feelings about this out there :
I was going to say turn it off and on, this sort of thing happens to my iDevices every few months and a reboot fixes it. I see you’ve tried that though, sorry.
Thanks, Richard Pearse. Upon waking up today, the iphone is connecting as it should again. Odd behavior. The only thing I’d done was to remove it from its protective case.
I also updated the iOS to 8.1.2 and now there’s a bar at the top of the virtual keyboard that is divided into thirds, with each third serving up a guess as to what the next word I’m entering is going to be. Well, that’s nifty but I really don’t like losing what little screen space I have available to see what I’m actually typing to it. Is there any way to get rid of it?
Next time you have trouble connecting, reset your network settings- settings>general> flick to the bottom, tap reset> reset network settings. You won’t lose anything, but will have to put your wifi passwords back in.
Every few weeks the same thing has been happening to my iPhone 6 plus running the latest IOS. It’s a new problem for me. I’ve just turned it off and on to fix it, but wonder what’s up – never happened in the previous 3 years.
Or if you only want to get rid of temporarily, use a single finger to swipe down on the bar of words and it’ll dissappear into the top of the keyboard but you can swipe up to bring it back.
