It being close to christmas thoughts turn to neato gifts that one can buy for their loved ones. My GF has an iPod, but no CD player. She wants a CD player, however that doesn’t seem like a cool enough gift to me. So I was thinking of getting her an iPod docking station, I know Bose as well as other companies make one. However I am wondering if 2 birds can be killed, and if anyone knows of a reputable company that makes a 2 in one deal? iPod docking station + CD player? Thanks for your help.
If she has an iPod, why does she need a CD player?
(I ask mostly out of curiosity, but also because the recommendation might depend on it.)
if you do get a docking station, Altec Lansing makes excellents ones - the AL ones also recharge the iPod while they play
plus IMHO the look is sleeker
She would like a CD player as it is much easier to play music that everyone likes on a CD player. For example, for a party other people may bring CDs, CDs of music she either doesn’t own, or wouldn’t want to own. As well for backwards compatibility, heck one with a tape/CD/iPod player would be even better!
i’d love one of those with a turntable so I can convert all my vinyl!

While that was cool, and I thank you for the effort, she doesn’t actually have any vinyl. Myself, I don’t even have an iPod! The all in one play every format imaginable would be cool, but I would imagine it would be a little large. I really just want a CD/iPod player, something that doesn’t sound overly outrageous to me, but in my own google searches I have yet to come upon anything close. Of course I did not find your link either, so I suppose that says a lot about my google talents. Any other dopers heard/seen this?
