I sent my friend an iPod nano that I’ve had for 2-3 years but never used. She can’t get her iTunes to load on it. Please let me know what to tell her.
Also, she wants to back up her iTunes music files on another HD because her present computer is getting old. What’s the best way to do this and not risk losing anything, including how she has organized them?
I think I’ve found some of this but she wants to know SD advice & experiences. Thanks!
Is your friend using a Mac or a PC? Do you use a Mac or a PC, and did you ever format the Nano? It might just need to be formatted again.
As for backing up her music, if she has all the data for the songs (artist, album, etc.), then she’ll be able to organize it however she wants. That doesn’t go away when you transfer them to another hard drive.
If she’s got a CD burner, iTunes has a built-in backup utility. You can back up everything, only purchases, or only things purchased since the last backup.
To load onto another computer, just put the first of those backup disks in the new computer’s drive.
She could also move her entire library onto an external drive if she has one - I don’t recall the steps I did when I initially did that. Then connect the external drive to the new computer, and import / copy everything to the new computer. This is how I hace copies of all my stuff on my laptop (the main files are on the desktop’s external drive)./
If she has that much music, she’d be better off just getting an external hard drive. She can just connect it to her computer via USB and drag and drop her music onto it, then do the same thing in reverse when she gets a new computer. Plus it’s a good thing to have around anyway.
