I was very close to buying an iPod, but now I see the new PSP is about the same price, and I’m thinking why not get the psp if it can play mp3/mp4’s just like the iPod? Which is a better way to go?
I really don’t think they’re comparable in any meaningful way. The iPod is designed as a music player - I suppose listening to music on the PSP is going to be a less than ideal experience.
The PSP is also a lot bigger and heavier - it weighs around a pound while the iPod will easily fit into your pocket.
Game prices are also really different. PSP games seem to range from 15-30$. The App Store has created fierce competition so that almost no game with a price significantly over 5$ can survive - and they’re all instantly downloadable. There is also a great variety of games, ranging from free casual games to complete adventures worthy of the PSP.
Of course, you lack the dedicated buttons, but the iPod makes up for that in innovative gaming and interface concepts that wouldn’t even be possible without a touch screen.
So in conclusion, call me an Apple fanboy, but this really makes it seem like a no-brainer. YMMV.
I got my iPod Touch as an attaboy from work. After using it for three weeks I gladly paid for one for my husband, knowing I had found the perfect birthday present. We both use them for entirely different apps, and neither of them ever goes a day without being used all day. From everything pointed out above, I’d have to say you want the Touch.
Are you talking about the Vita or PSP?
