I agree: one act of perceived stupidity does not negate another act. But if you want to do comparisons, I mean, didn’t Singapore have a ban on gum for the longest time? And North Koreans don’t have proper INTERNET access!
Democracy is this odd thing where the minority will always smother the majority while somehow keeping everyone relatively comfortable.
Iran is just a step above the state of nature with a piss poor contract between government and citizen. 
Besides, if it weren’t for places like Iran, we wouldn’t be so superior and awesome.

About 75 years ago, Nazi Germany passed laws forbidding Jews from owning dogs, cats, or any pets. And they could not even give their pets away to friends or neighbors, or send them outside the Reich – all Jewish-owned pets had to be turned over to the authorities for disposal.
I’m fairly certain that dogs are still, as they always have been, licking their butts clean.
If the dog were dressed in a burka, and introduced as one’s wife, the problem would be solved. Turkey should have kept the burka, so as to keep the dogs off the streets.

Yeah alcohol bans fall under blue laws. I guess they figure if you can’t buy booze, you’ll go to church. Because those are your only two options of things to do. Greece banned all video games, including mine sweeper at one point. Slick move, Greece.
What I think gets this law extra ire is the cruelty. It’s not the dog’s fault it’s a dog. Many families have dogs as beloved pets, as well as provide security, and as helpers. It’s basically enforcing a traumatic event on people for absolutely retarded, and backwards reasons. Further it’s just another in a long line of backwards and retarded laws.
