We frequently get reports of U.S./NATO casualties. How is it we rarely hear of the casualties we inflict upon the Taliban & Al Qaeda combatants? Surely we kill more of the bad guys than they do of our troops. Do we not report for some PC fear of inciting the the Muslim world in general?
In Vietnam, the US forces reported enemy body counts. These counts were very unreliable and are now thought of as a false metric. It does not matter how many Bad Guys are dead, it matter how many Bad Guys are left.
Body counts also encouraged units to use more force than was required. Later in that conflict body counts were refined with reports of the number of weapons captured, the results of these two sets of numbers were alarming to say the least.
