Iraq coillition troop numbers

Anyone know the actual make up of the coillition troops in Iraq? Countries and troop levels for each?

That information is highly confidential! I can’t imagine any military force that would publish such information for the enemy to see! And can’t understand why anyone would think that they would!

I recall reading WWII stories of whole ‘fake camps’ set up to fool enemy reconinesence, with empty tents, dummy soldiers, smudgepot ‘fires’, and a small troop of soldiers assigned to move the dummies around and otherwise adjust the scene each day. These were used by both Rommell & Montgomery in the Egypt conflict, and by Eisenhower in southern England prior to D-Day.

I swear to Og, I thought the thread title said “Iraq Cotillion Troop Numbers” and had a nasty flash image of Blair and Bush in hoop skirts…

Here’s a link detailing the estimated numbers in July. Of course, it would have been a lot more last year when the main war was fought.

This seems pretty complete

Perfect. Thanks.

Um, maybe because those folks over there are citizens of free countries, and have friends and relatives back home? And perhaps also because we, the taxpayers, are footing the bill for shipping troops over there, and paying their salaries, and buying their supplies? Certainly, you wouldn’t expect information about how many are moving from Bagdad to Tikrit this Tuesday, but you’d think that the military would at least have to acknowledge to the folks back home that Private Joe Smith is deployed in the Middle East in connection with Iraq. Add up those acknowledgements, and you’ve got the number of soldiers over there.
