IRONMAN Tempe AZ

Not the fake Ironman that you see in the movies. The real deal. 140.6 miles.

My Wife will jump in the water at 7am Sunday the 21st (tomorrow). Water temp will be very, very cold. 60dF.

Unfortunately the weather is supposed to turn to crap during the race. Wind and rain. My Wife is ready though. A little freaked out but ready.

I am volunteering at the race, and of course helping my wife. Pit crew. Gonna be a very busy day.

I’m as nervous as she is, but can’t show it.

I’m still amazed that they fixed and filled the Lake so soon after the bursting disaster from July.

Yep it’s kinda crazy re the dam going out. But it is fixed. The water level is a bit low by about 2 feet for the athletes climbing out. And its’ cold. 61 degrees today.

For those that don’t know what Tempe Town lake is, It’s really just a wide canal. And I’m from Colorado, we call a puddle a lake, and a small creek a river.

If Tempe Town lake was back east, it wouldn’t even be on the map.

I wish I could go out tomorrow and check the action, but I’m still fighting a bug and they are still predicting rain tomorrow.

Any good websites to check the coming Ironman?

We are a bit concerned about rain and wind.

I’ll be at the volunteering at the Interactive Zone tent from 9-11am. Basically telling folks where there racers are on the course. My Wifes bib # is 2683.

Nice! One of my friends/coworkers is competing. Hope the weather stays decent.

I would have gone down and watched, but it was wicked cold, windy and raining.

Can you imagine, the winning time was 8 hr and a few minutes. I ran a bunch of marathons, but swimming some 4+ miles, riding a bike 115 mi and then running a marathon? No way, it is not possible.

I had no idea it was happening. Made trying to get from Rural and the 202 to the other side of Tempe a little, um, interesting.
