I’ve been collecting photos of strangers flipping off the camera for a number of years, and have recently began quietly publishing them as a daily blog.
It’s simply photos of people flipping off the camera, with a title and appropriate labels. There’s no comment, no nudity, nothing but the photos. Is this content deemed Not Safe For Work?
I’ve got a few nudes that qualify, but I don’t want to post them (thus making the site NSFW) if the current content is considered innocuous. I defer to the judgement of the SDMB – is this adult content? If so, should I enable Blogger’s “I’m an Adult” button?
I think it depends. Would you flip a coworker the bird? Or your Boss? If so, than yes, if not, don’t risk it.
Hey Danalan, I have a pic like that. Where should I send it?
When people “flip the bird” on reality television (Survivor), their hands are blurred.
For this reason and others(mostly personal taste), I would be unhappy to click on a link and find that it contained a prominent picture of someone flipping the bird without warning. (I suppose the warning COULD consist of “Warning: Picture of person flipping the bird” rather than “Warning: NSFW” but that seems kind of silly).
I can see that I need to clarify something. By NSFW, I mean “will get me fired”, rather than “oops, I can explain”. I know that flipping the bird is rude and inappropriate in a work setting. If you are looking at a site full of pictures of random people flipping the bird, at work, it’s probably not the best use of your time.
However, many employers have a zero-tolerance attitude toward pornography. Looking at a site full of naked people is a firing offense. That’s what I mean by NSFW.
So, is my site NSFW, or is it simply rude and inappropriate? Imagine your boss is looking over your shoulder (some sysadmin probably is, or can anyway). Would he be unhappy, or inconsolable?
I vote more rude and inappropriate, but I do not in fact have a job where internet usage matters. I just often search the web at the library, where my privacy is limited enough to make NSFW warnings generally appreciated–aside from my personal taste which is that most things recieving NSFW warnings are things I don’t want to look at anyway.
