I stand corrected, ruadh. I had assumed the laws on gun ownership in Northern Ireland were the same as in Britain, i.e., pretty darn restrictive. I’d be interested to know exactly what the law is on legal ownership up there. In any event, it appears, as you say, that the IRA “accomplished” whatever it did without much if anything in the way of legally held weapons.

Must you always be so inflammatory? How about taking a page from the mainstream media when referring to gun control people, and refer to the opposition with words like advocates, or proponents. Your contempt grows more noticeable with each thread.
There are cat lovers, dog lovers, opera lovers, and music lovers. I fail to see how “gun lovers” is in any way inflammatory.
