I’m not sure I believe in all that psychic mumbo-jumbo, but I admit that I am watching the show. It beats watching the Bachelorette and some of the other stuff on tv.
Besides, it’s got Jake Webber and anything with Jake Webber is okay with me.

Just you and me, Grace.
So far…
It’s not bad, if somewhat disturbing–but no more than CSI or Law & Order.
I thought it might be hokey, but watched it because I like Patricia Arquette. My husband and I have been pleased with the writing. (We are pretty picky.) I’m not used to having such a subject treated so intelligently.
The real Allison was on Today this morning. They chose well in casting Arquette.
I’m glad that she is not of the Sylvia Brown variety of mediums. It has made me curious about her real life experiences.
We’re watching, but it’s sure not what we were expecting. I like it, though.
WhyDad and I (and WhyKid, but not for this show!) are genre TV fans - Buffy, Angel, Firefly, Farscape, Tru Calling, X-Files, Wonderfalls (all gone now!), etc. So we were expecting something in that vein.
Nope. It’s like…I don’t know. It’s not really like anything I’ve seen before.
I like that last night didn’t have a twist. Refreshing, in a way. It was a twist that it was twist-free, just an honest mistake and transference of memory. That was neat. No sudden, “but really the killer is the busboy!” I like the relationship between the main couple. They seem a lot like my husband and me - bickering bitterly one moment and smiles the next. Lots of long dialogue scenes, like the car conversation and clear exposition, like when the DA explained the jury selection process. I wonder how long the studio will let them keep that up. It really takes the time to linger on things that require it, and that’s pretty rare in the post-MTV editing world of television. The very things I like about it might get it labelled “slow” or “boring” by focus groups.
I watched it last week, and again last night. I liked it very much both times.
I liked that, too. I was scared for a moment that she was going to look up and the waiter was going to be the killer and I was going to be disgusted. I was glad it was just a slip of the memory.
I wonder about that, too. I’m thinking back to Boomtown, and the way they’d show the title cards before each scene so we’d know which character’s point of view we were seeing, and that we’d sometimes see scenes twice from the different character’s POVs - the average viewer didn’t like that and TPTB changed it for the second season. That was what made it stand out, IMO.
I’ve been watching too, and like others I can’t really explain what exactly I like about the show. I watched last Thursday night, under the impression it was a “new” show but instead it was a repeat of the original opening show from last Monday. That’s okay because I still enjoyed watching it.
It does have a very real “real life” quality to it–PA & JW work very well as husband and wife imho–also the girls bickering was so true. I had to laugh that she thought she was infallible; I think she realizes now that she’s not. Must be strange, though, to get the window into the lives of others, and hubby is a bit of a voyeur that he wants her to fill him in on the true facts on the way home! LOL
Good show and I plan on continuing to follow it.
As I mentioned before, I’m not sure I buy the psychic stuff, but I am buying it on the show. Maybe it’s because of the way it’s being handled. We’re seeing Allison’s life. . .not just seeing her talk to dead people.
I really like the District Attorney. He doesn’t know what to make of Allison and her talents, but he’s trying to use them anyway. I like that. I also like that he’s got the snark going on. I actually laughed out loud when he told off the jury expert.
The role brings hazards to Patricia Arquette’s personal life. She now has to avoid smiling in public. Lots of people want to strike a happy medium.
I liked the first show a fair bit, but the second one, not so much.
holy moly, i must be your viewing clone!
count me as another happy watcher. just hope that an intelligent show can be allowed to continue. (at least it isn’t based on FOX–otherwise all hope would definitely be lost.)
Yeahbut, this is a happy medium who’s livin’ large.
That’s interesting because I liked the second one better than the first.
In the first show she seemed hesitant and tentative, interesting and conflicted. In the second show, mostly just whiny.
I’ve been watching. I like it but I don’t glue myself to the tube like I do with Lost so I feel like I may be missing some things. There were several things about the first episode that annoyed me so I think I liked the second better, even though I know I missed some of the bit and the end. Hopefully they will rerun this one again like they did the pilot. My short attention span will appreci… ooh, what’s that over there…
Himself (my boyfriend) & I have been watching it. We’ve really liked it so far, although she did seem a bit whiny last night. I think that’s going to show the evolution of the character, though.
The relationship between Allison & her husband seem to be represented well, and the kids are realistic. So are the skeptics.
We’ll wait & see. But I’m willing to give it a chance for a few more episodes, I think.
I don’t like the husband.
(wonder who he slept with to get the part?)
My wife and I watched last week, but missed yesterday’s. And I’m happy to find out that Thursday was a repeat, I thought I had missed two rather than just the one. Cool. It’s a very smartly-written (like that phrase) show, and I hope it stays around. My wife was very sad that Boomtown got gutted, it was her favorite show that season and I would hate to see Medium go the same route. Thanks to whoever brought up that example!
I’ve still got the hots for Allison’s husband. Regarding tonight’s episode…
When I saw the photograph at the scene in Allison’s dream, I was a little suspicious and I knew I was on the right track when the detective commented on the wedding photograph at the the last crime scene. It was interesting that Allison’s dream included an “energy” or someone who didn’t exist, but did incorporate some of the thoughts of the killer. I don’t think they verified that the husband was first killed.
The birthday party was more of a surprise to me than the actual crime. Allison’s hubby was so smug thinking he actually pulled one on her.
The previews show the middle daughter might have some psychic abilities. That’ll be interesting.
Not directly, but it was inferred. Well, assuming we can believe the testimony of
The last guy who’s wife was killed. He said the photographer/killer told him he was the only husband to pull the trigger on his wife. His deal all along was that if the husband “killed” the wife, he’d let the husband live. And he did. He simply killed his wife. Otherwise, he’d (photographer/killer) kill both of them. Presumably, this meant starting with the husbands who didn’t try to kill their wives. Why start with the husbands? I dunno. Maybe because he was a little weasely guy and figured if the husband was going to play hero, he might get hurt taking the time to kill the wife first.
But I think it was mostly pointed out that the husbands were killed first so that there’d **have **to be another person in the room. It was more of a writing thing than a plot thing. Plus, it gave Detective Dude something else to blow up about.
