Ping Pong is definitely among the most popular sports here, for which I’m glad. They’ve been showing all of the high-level matches, including the team semi-finals and just recently the finals. It’s not really that hard at all to follow the action; you’ve just got to get used to it. It’s sorta like night vision- you need like 10-20 minutes to adjust yourself. The team gold medal match between Germany and China was great to watch, and it was pretty amazing just how good China’s top player (Wang Hao) is. His match with Germany’s top guy was fantastic; the German (forgot his name) played really well, making a lot of great saves and usually taking advantage of slight opening to make cat-like precision attacks. The problem was that Wang Hao very rarely gave such openings, and would often make brilliant saves even off of great attacks. Awesome spectacle.
I saw it today as well. Germany vs. China.
Brilliant. Should be on the prime time coverage.
Thats our field. America will gold medal again.
When do they switch serves.? They play best of 7 score 11 to win. We used to switch at 5 but that would not work on a 11 score game.
They switch every two serves.
So, is there any Olympic table tennis left to be played? I’ve taped at least 15 hours of Olympic coverage trying to catch some of the play when the description has mentioned table tennis, but it has never been shown when they’ve said they were going to show it. Grr.
