My ISP is MSN (yeah, yeah, death pigs, blah blah, whatever), and my main email account is an @msn.com address. For the last week, stuff has been getting through in an extremely hit or miss fashion – things showing up in my inbox 12 to 24 hours after being sent, people reporting getting “sorry, her mailbox is full” messages when I’m showing that I’m using 2% of my storage, etc. I’ve been telling people to use my yahoo account or email me at home, but this is really starting to piss me off.
I also use MSN, but I haven’t noticed problems with my e-mail. BUT, I generally check my school e-mail seperately, and most of my family sends mail to my hotmail account.
I did just check it though, and a message from a Yahoo! group that I’m in that I read on the group page Wednesday or Thursday just got to my msn mail this morning, so I may well be having some slow delivery issues.
YES! I use Hotmail (hotmail=msn I assume in terms of servers, etc…), and it’s been f’d up for a while now. E-mails get to me several days late, sometimes not at all. I found out the same way Lsura did with e-mails from my Yahoo! groups taking days to get through. It’s not Yahoo’s fault either, because I changed it so it e-mails the messages to my other e-mail acct instead, and it gets there immediately. I’m not the only one either it seems. A few of my friends are having the same problems. I am going to change e-mail as soon as I find a better e-mail host. I do have my student e-mail account, but I try to keep that one for only school stuff.
I too have been having big problems with Hotmail, so much so that my boyfriend (who uses his school email account exclusively) has stopped trying to email me there (always comes 12-24 hours later than he sends it). Oddly, only email from him seems to be having this problem so consistently.
I’m another Hotmail user who’s been having this problem all week…very flustering. People tell me messages are bouncing back, or seemingly disappearing into the ether. I would love to know what’s up.
The Hotmail logjam, whatever its cause, seems to have broken recently (I’ve sent some messages from my Comcast account to my Hotmail account, and several of them finally arrived within a short period - a subsequent test message came through within a minute or two).
I was having trouble getting messages to MSN folks, but discovered a workaround (only for MSN - doesn’t apply to Hotmail). Instead of sending the message to somebody@msn.com, try somebody@email.msn.com. For whatever reason, that second form of address was getting through when the first form wasn’t. Go figure.
