Is anyone else sick of the Casey Anthony media circus?

If I see Casey Anthony’s ugly face in the paper or on the Net again, I’ll scream!
Everyone deserves a fair trial. I think she’s guilty as sin, and a bad little liar about it.

Oh, is it almost over already?

Seriously, until last week when I saw the coverage on the news on a TV that I hadn’t turned on I had no idea that it was even underway. It isn’t hard to ignore if you do what I do and simply pay it no mind.

My opinion exactly. As a rule, I try not to stay willfully ignorant, but there are exceptions. This is one of them.

I have had zero interest in these cases. I do not understand how people can waste time pretending to know what happened. It is tough enough for a jury ,with a lot more info, to make a decision.Yet people will declare guilt or innocence from reading an article about it.

The butler did it!

“An” article? Fucking “AN” article?!?

You could read over 1000 articles on this fucking trial! You can have more information on this thing than the cops have. You can definitely get more info than the jury is allowed to hear!

And you think there’s not enough info for people to pick a side?

Trust me, it’s ok not to care about it, in fact, it’s advisable, but don’t act like people don’t have enough information to make up their mind in a media-saturated trial like this one.

Y’know, there’s a reason why the jury isn’t allowed to hear much of that “info”…

I don’t even know what she’s on trial for…

reading all 1,000 of them would give you the same info, repeated 1,000 times. I’ve been ignoring this trial, but since the jury was sequestered I finally broke down and read about it. I don’t know if she’s guilty, or crazy, or both. Probably both.

Fuck yes, she’s guilty and FUCK YEAH i am fucking tired of her.

Somehow, this case has completely flown under my radar. Need to go look up some info about it…

The entire trial was televised (almost every word by every vital participant). Many times, the jury was sent from the courtroom so sensitive issues could be settled. The networks always described why the jury was absent and what was at issue during a particular side-bar. Those who watched every day of the trial have more information than any of the jurors.

I have interest in the case, not enough to watch it every day, just enough to hope Casey Anthony is found guilty.

Murdered 2-year old girl. Mother, despite very suspicious activities, denies it (of course). Mother of mother lies under oath in furtherance of the murder. Some damning evidence presented. Jury deliberating. If acquitted, mother is likely an instant millionaire.

No looking up needed.

Lemme 'splain. No, there is too much. Lemme sum up:

Almost-three-year-old Caylee Anthony was or wasn’t murdered by her mother, Casey Anthony, to allow the then-23-year-old mother to maintain a carefree party lifestyle. Alternately, the child did or didn’t drown in a backyard swimming pool. The kid’s remains were or weren’t temporarily stored in the trunk of Casey’s car, though they definitely turned up a month later (having been or not having been ignored by the police after a meter-reader reported them), with duct tape wrapped around the mouth and nose. The tape had a heart shape faintly scratched on it, or maybe it didn’t.

Aw hell… there really is too much. Go read the news.

Best defense ever: “Yes my client is a liar and a slut, but she is not a murderer”.

My mother is obsessed with this trial. She said they’ve even run specials about how it surpasses OJ for “trial of the century.” Fucking ridiculous.

I would love to see a reality show with Casey and OJ setting up housekeeping in a prison together.

Mine too. It makes me very sad. The whole thing is sad, of course…but my mother’s fascination with the case is disturbing.

edit to add: I am SO sick of this trial, to the OP

Nah. It’s been pretty easy for me to avoid. Most of my exposure to it has been thread titles on these boards. This thread itself is probably more than a quarter of my exposure to the case. Until a few days ago, I assumed she was a man.

I now have family in the Orlando area, and was visiting them in mid-June. Needless to say the trial was all over the news and TV, 24/7.

Media circus notwithtstanding: It’s a great opportunity to watch an entire criminal court process from beginning to end, from jury selection, opening arguments, prosecution, defense, rebuttal, the objections, the sidebars, closing arguments etc. Having lived in some countries where the judicial process is not very…transparent, this is something that Americans should be proud of: Good and bad, warts and all, we have what I still think is the fairest and most open trial process in the world.

I’m against the death penalty, and I don’t think the state proved behind a reasonable doubt that there was sufficient premeditation involved. But if I was on the jury I’d vote guilty of at least second-degree murder.
