Since I’m seeing threads for other Comedy Central shows such as South Park and The Sarah Silverman Program, I was curious if I was the only one out there still watching Drawn Together. I’ve always enjoyed the show’s bizarre mix of off-color humor and pop culture satire, and these episodes (which may be the last few- the creators left to go to Fox) still have it. Last week’s episode, with the cereal mascots and the Carousel of Progess running gag, was one of the best in recent memory, and had a line that made me laugh harder than any on the show I can recall:
“I’m Franken Berry, this is Tony Tiger, and of course you know Violent Retard from Violent Retard Flakes.”
“Wait a minute- there’s no cereal called Violent Retard Flakes!”
“You tell him that.”
I haven’t looked at the Judge Fudge webseries yet, which is unfortunate, since he’s one of my favorite supporting characters. But at least I have a decent excuse- and you probably know what it is.
Yes religiously. But there’s not much to talk about. It’s been canceled and, more than halfway through it’s third and final season, it’s clear that it peaked during its second.
I lost track of it after the first season. Last time I noticed it was still on, I caught a repeat of “Lost in Parking Space: Part One”. Clara’s reaction to being alone in the house and dealing with a delivery guy was amusing.
I still watch it (and didn’t realize it had been cancelled). Yes, obviously, they fill each episode with a lot of anti-PC and gross out humor, but I laugh at enough of it to make it worth my while. Plus, the writing on the cereal empire episode was actually really, really good. And the ridiculousness of the swinging arms/“Now is the time” song after saying, “I know a shortcut!” was good. Good Times, as it were.
…do they know its been cancelled? The creators were on Adam Carolla’s talk show this week and were talking about all the upcoming episodes and no one said word one about it being cancelled. They wouldn’t be surrpised if it were. Alot of their banter was about how no one watched the show.
Apparently on the comentary track on one of the DVDs one of the guys gave out his email address and encouraged people to write him. He’s only recieved 7 emails.
I could never keep track of when it was on (Sunday, I think). I guess its biggest failing was that unlike the Big Brother-ish reality shows it was spoofing, the characters never changed. If you got sick of them (and they were, quite literally, two-dimensional), it’s not like you could expect a new crop of housemates in a few months.
I watched 2.5 episodes the first season. The first was “Hey, let’s see if it’s any good”, the second was “It couldn’t have been THAT bad. I probably saw an off episode” and the .5 was “Well, hell. Daily Show is on in ten minutes…”
Right. It started out funny, the Stereotypes were hilarious. Then it degraded into nothing but gross-out humor. Ren and Stimpy went the same way.
I tried watching one episode when it first came on. The humor didn’t even work on a conceptual level. If I stare at a wall or out the window for a half hour I’ll usually find at least one or two things to laugh about. DT didn’t make me crack a smile even once. I’m amazed it’s still on.
I still watch it. Last news I have is that it hasn’t been cancelled, but neither has it been renewed for a season 4. Complicating a potential renewal is the fact that the show’s co-creators are working on a development deal somewhere else.
I watch it! I waited all summer for it to come back. I like the show because of the juvenile humor. Season Two was really good. I haven’t seen last night’s episode yet, so I can’t comment on it, but Spanky Ham and Charlotte the spider? C’mon, that was hilarious!
The subplot to that Charlotte episode featuring Captain Hero’s nemesis was so increasingly bizarre, it was funny. It reminded me a bit of the episode with the SWAT team with the overly long, specific name. The ending discussion with Wooldor was especially amusing:
“His name is Scrotor?”
“Yes.”
“And he makes superheroes clean his balls?”
“No…just me.”
