Is anyone watching IndyCar this season?

…'cause I sure am. It’s been great so far.

  • I’m liking the double line restarts - I know it’s harder/more dangerous for the drivers, but it is making the races more exciting.

  • WTF is going on with Castroneves? He seems completely put of it this season so far - did I hear he had a new baby? That can account for all sorts of big and little changes that would take his mind off of the track.

  • Danica is continuing her slide into irrelevance. After the red flag at Brazil, they interviewed her, and she was like “meh, what’s the point in restarting? I’m already nine laps down.” Boo on her - drivers are supposed to want to drive, no matter what’s going on. Contrast that to de Silvestro, who finished eight laps down, but took the fastest lap trophy (I love de Silvestro!)

  • Yea Sato! And he didn’t crash!

  • I can’t stand Hunter-Raey. He’s just so douch-y - I cheer when he crashes.

  • Andretti Racing seems to be cursed.

  • I grew up in Indiana, so the 500 has always been big to me. But, you know… the 500 isn’t that great of a race when compared to other tracks. We’ll be at the Time Trials this month, but I find the street courses much more exciting.

Your thoughts?

Simona de Silvestro showed some skills last year, I expect her to break out this year. If Helio doesn’t run her over.

I’m bummed that I’m going to miss the 500 again this year due to another deployment, but I would like to watch as much of the series as possible after I get home. NASCAR is no longer interesting to me, and IndyCar has some interesting personalities that are starting to make waves there. de Silvestro is definitely one of them… I was very impressed by her performance at Indy last year, and she seems like a sweetheart in her interviews. Easier to root for than Danica, no doubt.
