Ah, my mistake, for some reason I thought you were talking about the game. I was wondering why you mentioned shipping, yet I still didn’t figure it out…
You can get it now for $19.99 from BundleStars with all the DLCs (which I bet is what I paid, I think my above post where I say I got for $15 was a mistake)
https://www.bundlestars.com/en/bundle/batman-arkham-knight-bundle
If you’ve already got the base game (like me), Wingamestore has the season pass with all DLC for $9.99.
BTW, still enjoying the game. I’ve mostly eliminated the minor stuttering with a few more settings changes (the results of which I cannot notice, which is good), but I still get the occasional crash, usually while tearing around the city in the batmobile. I assume it’s having trouble keeping up the loading & rendering all the city sights as I’m driving like a, well, you know.
It’s not stable if you’re in the Batmobile and using a GPU with 2 gigs of RAM or less, unfortunately.
I’m old enough that occasional game crashes are something I got used to a long time ago. At least I’m not editing CONFIG.SYS to get the game to work.
BTW, do you happen to know if stability is better/worse/unknown on Windows 10 vs 8.1? I’ve been putting off upgrading to 10 forever, now that the deadline is coming up I’m wondering if I should skip it completely to avoid breaking the game.
The issue appears to be VRAM related, so I don’t think going to windows 10 would help you. Mind you, windows 10 is great and you should upgrade anyway ![]()
The game has issues properly allocating and utilizing vRAM, so the more you have of it, the more you can turn up settings, and the more stable it will be. I think 4 GB was found to be best. My old 780ti with 3GB also ran fine, but only if I lowered texture quality down a notch or two.
Thank you. I don’t care if it’s not any better, or even just slightly worse - just want to make sure it doesn’t break the game completely. I’ve got 8 GB of system RAM (not 16 as I mistakenly posted before), and I found a few articles saying it needs 12 GB on Windows 10.
Huh, not sure about that.
I know it runs perfectly for me in windows 10 on both my 780ti and my new 1070, but I have 16 gigs of RAM.
BTW, if you get the season pass and download the DLC, it’s very existence gives away a huge spoiler.
Arkham Knight with the Season Pass is $16 from Play Asia right now. Global Steam key, works fine.
So I did wind up upgrading to Windows 10. Crashing isn’t any worse, but it definitely pauses & stutters more when driving around in the batmobile.
I don’t even understand why that happens.
One might think it’s an exacerbation of the texture/LOD streaming as you move around int he batmobile, but I don’t think the batmobile is that much faster than grappling and flying around, is it? Haven’t played the game in a while, but performance is much better while grappling and flying vs the damned batmobile.
I don’t get it either. There are articles that say WB recommends 12 GB of ram for Windows 10 to prevent paging, but according to task manager my 8 GB system never goes below 2 GB free while I’m playing.
FWIW, upgrading to 12 MB RAM improved but did not eliminate the stuttering while driving. It happens mostly in the first 4 or 5 seconds after I get in the batmobile.
Back to the initial thread question - the game is definitely worth the $15 I paid for it, especially if you’re already an Arkham fan. Jury is still out on the DLC for another $10 - so far the extra episode missions haven’t been impressive - the two I’ve played were essentially just showcases of different characters combat styles, with no real story. But I did finally get to play as Adam West Batman, which is outstanding.
