Is beer a generation thing? Why might that be?

I’m exactly the other way around. Even from my non-beer-snob days as a college student, I couldn’t stomach Busch for whatever reason, and the light version was even worse. Unfortunately, most of the frat parties tended to have that, so that’s when I turned to a preference in hard alcohol (and it’s gone back to beer long since although I very much enjoy both.) It could be the rice in Bud (I can’t remember if Busch has rice in the bill, but I’m guessing it’s probably corn, as I tend to dislike the corny beers like Miller, though I do like Old Style, so who knows.) When it comes to macro-style American lagers that I like, I think that Yuengling is the best of what I’ve had so far, although it is heavily regional. I do wish they had it hear, because of any of the beers I enjoy, they tend to be $9 a six pack or more, and I seem to recall buying Yuengling closer to the $6-$7 mark last year when I was out east.

Busch is corn. That’s why it has that appeal to my memory - cheap mid-western farmer’s beer. It’s a very distinct taste which a large number of people can’t stand.
