Just a couple of quick comments here.
RNATB, Coyotes are present in the entirety of Florida including the metro area and even most of the keys. They are mainly active in the quite hours of the night and are normally mis- ID’d as feral dogs. Dogs are far more likely, but raccoons and bobcat are also known to cache food items in such a manner. If I had to place a bet on an animal burial it would be a domestic dog, or raccoon which are present everywhere.
You’d be surprised at the population numbers of these animals as well. I’m a nature enthusiast and I’ve seen all of the big mammals occasionally including a sighting of the Florida Panther several years ago, in a semi rural area.
