Caylee Anthony's remains found?

Breaking news.

They were found just a quarter mile from the Anthony home.

One of the officials said “we hope” it’s not related to the case.

I understand what he meant- that “we” want to hope Casey is still alive & will eventually be found (tho “we”'re sure that won’t happen), but then again, that would mean (as I’m sure the case is anyway) there’s ANOTHER dead/missing child case that few if any people have been acting on.

Well. Someone’s child … so sad, regardless of whether it’s Caylee or not. :frowning:

I admit that I will feel some measure of relief if it turns out to be Caylee.

I wish they hadn’t reported this until they knew for sure, just in case it isn’t her. But the remains of a child so close to the Anthony home certainly makes it likely. At least if they have finally found her maybe the grandparents will have to come to grips with what happened and we can stop hearing those reports of some child spotted here or there that looks like Caylee.

Me too. Then they can nail that bitch for murder.

Poor Caylee. Did anyone catch George and Cindy on Larry King last night? I didn’t, but I’m sure it was more of the same.

I just saw this on the TV at work. I turned to one of my co-workers and said “I hope it is Caylee’s body and not the body of *another *child.” Maybe the family can finally get some closure.

Agreed. I’m very, very, weary of this media circus and if this is the child’s remains than we can move on with this.

Here’s some more info.

I guess we can thank a meter reader with a full bladder for (maybe) breaking this case.

I saw a little of Nancy Grace last night and they were talking about surveillance video from some Orlando mall of a little girl that looked a lot like Caylee. I’d find it pretty hard to believe Caylee’s walking around Orlando. (or alive anywhere, for that matter).

Yep.

I imagine that there are a lot of little girls that look like Caylee. Maybe even a couple little boys, too.

Michael Baden was just on Fox. He was saying that in the days before DNA, this would have already been a positive identification. I guess there are enough other details matching up that they’re pretty sure, but they like to have that 100% confirmation of the DNA now before they say so publicly.

I also hope it’s not a 2nd victim, but that appears to be unlikely, and they’re saying there aren’t any other missing kids in the area.

I also hope they can find some physical evidence on the body (like fingerprints or something) which can nail the lid on the identification of the killer (i.e. the mom).

I know this makes me a cynical bastard, but man, how stupid do you have to be to leave the body a quarter-mile from your house?

So what is the motive supposed to be in this case? The mother just got bored with having a kid?

We don’t know how long the bag was there. There have been search parties all over the place, it’s possible they didn’t search this area or the remains were dumped there later.

Casey is…a piece of work. She’s a lying thief (she stole checks from her friends, there are multiple theft and fraud charges against her) who blamed an innocent woman for kidnapping Caylee and wouldn’t know the truth it if bit her on the nose.

I don’t think this has gotten much play, but investigators did find history on Casey’s computer that indicated she was searching “chloroform.” I also heard stories that when Casey would party, she would bring Caylee and the child would sit very quietly in the corner.

:dubious:

What 2-3 year old sits quietly in a corner for any length of time?

I don’t know if it was deliberate or not. It’s possible Casey wanted to be a party girl, couldn’t find a babysitter, and gave Caylee too much chloroform and oops! Rotting pizza in the trunk.

Since duct tape was used it’s probably pretty likely that some evidence was left on the tape.

God, think of that poor worker. I hope he gets to sue for pain and suffering damages. Can you imagine what that would be like?

I thought of him too. And he must have known who it probably was as well.

God. :frowning: I hope it is Caylee, because 1) I’m not really holding any hope she’s still alive, 2) I hope there’s not another little dead child, and 3) I really want justice to be done here.

I’m hearing that it’s skeletal remains. Would a body be a skeleton after seven months?

My boss thinks if it’s not Caylee it could be Trenton Duckett.

In an open bag over a Florida summer? I’d say yes.

They did search this area before, but it was entirely under water at the time.
