Is Castle in danger?

No, too many ex-Firefly fans.

Some of us preferred him on Two Guys and a Girl, but I guess your point stands.

Well, it worked for Monk, and that show was much lighter than Castle.

The real point of Castle

good point about Monk, JThunder

I still have a huge problem with the season ender from last year. How the hell would Castle have been able to carry Kate out of the hanger if she REALLY didn’t want him to? They show him picking her up and carrying her out, with her barely fighting. She could easily kick his ass, so why do they keep turning her into a meek little girl whenever it’s convenient to the plot?

Yeah, we commented on that a few months ago. Castle should not have been capable of manhandling Kate as easily as he did, and Montgomery should have known that.

I was very unhappy with the season opener. The opening medical bit was like a list of hospital drama cliches (paraphrased):

[ul]
[li]“Stay with me, Kate.”[/li][li]“You can’t operate, Dr.” “She’ll die if I don’t.” [slice][/li][li]“This is all your fault.”[/li][li]“Stop it, everyone. She’s fighting for her life in there and blah blah blah…”[/li][li]“I don’t remember anything.”[/li][/ul]

puke

Plus WTF happened after Mysterious Guy with Package called Castle? It was like a 10-minute scene had been cut out. In fact, I’m certain that a 10-minute scene was cut out. Talk about bad editing.

Well, they need material to put in the extras on the DVD

There was a lot that happened off camera, in fact. Almost seemed like it was shot as a two-hour premiere.

I’m assuming that they met, and he handed the package the captain had mailed to him over to Castle, which is where Castle got all those clippings and such to create his own murder board.

No, I’m pretty sure he just told Castle that he could keep the dogs off Beckett, as long as Castle kept her from investigating the case. I don’t think he gave him any of the clippings etc.

My memory of last season is a little fuzzy. Was he working on Heat Rises last season, or did he whip it out as therapy after the shooting?

I am disappointed but not surprised that new captain is the predictable hard-ass. Dull! This was a weak episode and I’m hoping that they soon return to form. Keep Castle fun!

If last nights episode is any indication, then the answer to the OP in no. I was happy to see Castle back to it’s old self. It was the first time I laughed out loud multiple times at an episode in a while. In fact, I would say the whole of last season was a dissapointment. It lacked the charm and chemistry that season 1 and 2 had in spades. Last night was a reminder of why we love the show. Rediculous plot, a look into a nerd subculture to placate Firefly fans, Castle’s Puckish excitement and a return to the flirty subtext between the leads.

Favorite parts:
Castle’s face when they saw the video of the superhero.
The fact that Beckett was a comic collector.
Bizarro world Castle/Beckett held up as a big blinking neon sign for the two of them to hook up already!

Let’s hope they keep episodes like this coming!

Last night’s episode was more fun.

I agree that the new captain is a bit cliched and would like to see less of her.

See, I felt like the episode was starting to show signs of Bones syndrome. Increasingly outlandish cases while frick and frack over there act like they don’t wanna do the nasty and seeing how long they can draw the tension out.

Let me just say, if Richard Castle ever starts seeing characters from a Seth McFarlane show, I’m done with Castle.

Fellow Castle fans - there’s now a “Castle” graphic novel out. looked good from what I read about it on a book blog. don’t have link - can probably find through Amazon.

Last week’s episode was a return to form. Much more fun than the season opener. And I didn’t even see the ending coming (usually I do.)

Yeah, last week was pure fun, classic Castle.
